Reasons for joining Straterra

New Zealand is resource rich, with great potential. But we can do much more as a nation to grow the economic contribution of resources.

This Government is working to improve policies and legislation affecting the resource sector, and consults with Straterra as a valued and trusted stakeholder.

Policy issues Straterra is working on currently on include: Tax review, draft EEZ environmental effects legislation, review of the Crown Minerals Act 1991 and Minerals Programmes, NZ minerals research strategy, biodiversity offsets, freshwater, access to public conservation land, climate change issues.

At the same time New Zealand faces a mounting anti-resource campaign - against coal, oil and gas, and mining in special places, and against mining generally. Straterra has been countering this with advocacy at events and forums, in engagement with others, and via the media, to promote better understanding of and informed debate on resource sector issues.

We now have 60 members comprising minerals production, exploration, research, services and support. View list of company members here
