Minerals are part of sustainability

Wind turbines, solar panels, electric cars, bicycles, trolley buses, ecohomes – all green infrastructure is made entirely or largely from minerals, which must be produced locally or imported.

Minerals lie at the heart of modern society. Mining is not an option; it is necessary to economic and social sustainability. On that basis, the debate is about where to mine, and under what environmental conditions, with an eye also on cultural interests and concerns.
